What began in the 1960s as part of an out-of-state developer's vision to create “a life of ease & elegance in the Sun Country” is now a quiet community of 24 luxury condos near Reid Park in the heart of Tucson. Designed by Tucson's noted mid-century architecture firm Swaim and Cook, Eden Roc Gardens 1A was built in 1969 as Phase 3 of a then-unique “estate apartment-home” concept, offering the well-to-do “luxurious, carefree living in a secluded, tropical setting”. The ambitious 11-phase project concluded soon after and the surrounding property was sold and is now home to the Hotel DoubleTree on Alvernon. The community consists of three two-story buildings, eight units in each, amidst a lush landscape of palm trees, colorful flowers, live oaks and fruit trees. The one and two-bedroom units are spacious, ranging from 1,100 to 1,500 sf in an open-concept design. Upstairs units feature long balconies while downstairs have enclosed, ample private patios. The gated common area includes a large ramada, pool, spa and laundry facility. Eden Roc is situated close to the city's vibrant downtown districts between Broadway Blvd. and 22nd St. A short walk away, Reid Park offers two golf courses, a tennis/pickleball facility, a walking/bike path, zoo, duck pond with fountain, baseball stadium, family park and cultural activities. Eden Roc 1A is governed by an elected Board of Directors and contracts with Copper Rose to provide day-to-day management.
